ActivAtED - Active Ageing Towards European Dimension

ActivAtED is a two-year Senior Volunteering Project, between SINERGIA in Italy and ANIMAM VIVENTEM in Portugal.

 

The advancing age can often lead to a diminished sense of community, a closing session with the risk of loneliness and social exclusion. It's important that people that begin to advance with age, who are leaving the labour market, have opportunities that encourage their active involvement and promote their active ageing. In this way, senior persons, through the involvement in this project and working as volunteer, become an active agent of change.

 

Each partner will send 6 senior volunteers abroad, for a 3-week program, to develop an intercultural learning program for the members of the partner organization, including activities like Italian/Portuguese language classes, gastronomy, traditional games, music and dance, handicrafts, culture and traditions.

 

With this project we aim to combat loneliness, isolation and social exclusion, providing better quality of life and wellbeing of the senior community, as well as an intercultural learning opportunity not only for the volunteers, but also for the local communities benefiting with the developed activities.
